Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect when you buy a ticket on Marii, what we do with it, and how to reach us about your data.

Last updated: 13 June 2026

1. Who is responsible for your data

Marii is the data controller for personal information you give us when you browse events and buy tickets on tickets.marii.app. For the event itself — the experience, the venue, on-site decisions — the event organiser is the controller, and their privacy policy may also apply.

2. What we collect

  • What you give us at checkout: your full name, email address, and phone number. Optionally, the names of other ticket holders if you edit them.
  • Order data: which event, which ticket types, the amount paid, the payment method you used and the transaction reference returned by the payment processor. We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Ticket activity: when a ticket is scanned at the gate, whether the scan succeeded, and (if a wallet pass) which platform (Apple/Google) the pass was added to.
  • Device and usage data: standard web logs (IP, browser, pages visited) and aggregate analytics that help us understand which events draw interest and where the site needs work. We use minimal analytics and avoid third-party advertising trackers.

3. Why we use it

  • To deliver your tickets and validate them at the gate.
  • To let you and your guests open the ticket page, add the ticket to a wallet, and edit holder names where eligible.
  • To handle support requests, refunds and disputes — for which we need to confirm you are the buyer.
  • To pay organisers and produce financial reporting required for tax, accounting and fraud prevention.
  • To keep the platform secure and prevent abuse.

4. Who we share it with

  • The event organiser receives the buyer and holder information needed to operate the event — name, email, phone, the ticket types you bought, and scan history at the gate.
  • Payment processors (such as Pesepay, Paynow, Stripe and bank gateways enabled by the organiser) receive what they need to process payment. They are independent controllers for the card or wallet data they handle.
  • Apple and Google receive the minimum data needed to issue a wallet pass when you choose to add a ticket to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
  • Service providers we rely on for hosting, transactional email, error monitoring and analytics. They process data only on our instructions.
  • Authorities when we are legally required to disclose information.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers.

5. How long we keep it

Order and ticket data is retained for as long as needed to fulfil the purchase, support refunds and disputes, and meet our legal obligations (typically up to seven years for financial records). Marketing data, where you have opted in, is kept until you opt out. Web logs are kept for a short period for security investigations.

6. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct it where it is wrong;
  • delete it — subject to our need to keep records required by law or to defend a legal claim;
  • port it to another service in a machine-readable form;
  • stop sending you marketing.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@marii.app from the address tied to your order. If we cannot resolve a complaint, you can contact the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), which administers the Data Protection Act.

7. Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in to the checkout flow, remember your cart selections, and secure the site against abuse. We use lightweight analytics to measure aggregate traffic. We do not use cross-site advertising cookies on this site.

8. How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest where our providers support it. Access to production systems is restricted to a small number of engineers and is audit-logged. Payment card data is handled by certified payment processors; we never see or store the card number.

9. Children

Marii Tickets is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please email privacy@marii.app and we will remove it.

10. Changes to this policy

We update this page when our practices change or the law requires it. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
